Analytics

The web offers a great source of data. Much of this data can be used to understand the business aspect of the website and offers great insight into converting leads into more sales.

The goal is to use the data to get information. The idea is ‘data with a meaning,’ not just raw numbers. If you are given raw numbers, it often has no meaning whatsoever. That’s where most people stop. Many packages include some type of data package, but it is often just the raw numbers. You need to have something that translates the data into more business.

Here’s one thing that happens a lot – If someone approaches you talking about ‘hits’ on your website – Run. ‘Hits’ haven’t been a useful metrics since around 1996. They clearly don’t know what’s going on.
